Review

Part of King's Country Hall of Fame series, this brings together ten tracks from Dickens' heyday. These are not the original Columbia sides, but late-period recuts -- which is obvious from their stereo mixes and Music City, U.S.A., backings. Although the booklet is nonexistent, there's a nice, short bio on Little Jimmy on the tray card, and the versions of hits like "A-Sleeping at the Foot of the Bed," "Country Boy," and "Take an Old Cold 'Tater (And Wait)" are old-time country & western, even with the modern backing. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
