Cowboy Hymns and Spirituals

Album Review: Cowboy Hymns and Spirituals

Review

The classic postwar Sons of the Pioneers, featuring Bob Nolan, Tim Spencer, Lloyd Perryman, Hugh and Karl Farr, and Pat Brady, doing gospel and spiritual songs. The material, cut in 1947, captures the devotional side of the Pioneers, which was an important alternate side to their songs of the trail. Since supplanted by 12-inch collections containing more songs, but a collectable disc. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
