Plot

Poverty-row entrepreneur Morris R. Schlank's Anchor organization released this obscure silent western long after most first-run movie theaters were already equipped for talkies. Schlank's customers, however, were rural houses not yet so fortunate and who survived mainly on re-releases of silent films. Producer-director Ben Wilson brought a group of actors and technicians to Kernville in the foothills of the Sierras and filmed a brief series of silent westerns, one starring stunt-man Cliff Lyons, the other featuring one Cheyenne Bill, a former stunt double for Ronald Colman. The Cowboy Prince starred Cheyenne as a heroic cowboy who vows to rid the territory of "Satan Saunders" (Bud Osborne), a notorious bully whose roadhouse, according to an inter-title, was "a barbed wire division between Heaven and Hell." ~ Hans J.
