Crespi Carmelite High School is a private, Roman Catholic, four-year college preparatory high school located in Encino, California in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The school was named for Friar Juan Crespi, and was founded in 1959 by the Carmelite religious order, and has been run by the Carmelites since that time.
It has an enrollment of approximately 600 students with an average class size of 24 members. It offers a curriculum satisfying all requirements for college entrance plus a wide range of special programs, including athletics, video production, art, and drama.
Crespi is perhaps best known recently for its athletic programs, particularly the recent successes of the football team winning back-to-back Division X championships in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The soccer team won the 2005-06 Mission League Championship.
However, the school has a pattern of 90% graduating seniors going to four-year colleges. Along with the school's emphasis on the Roman Catholic community, Crespi has created an environment for developing a sense of brotherhood.
The football team at Crespi is ranked 65th best in the nation. [3]
Crespi Carmelite's "sister school" is Louisville High School, a young women's preparatory school in Woodland Hills, California.
