Biography

Cristóvão Bastos is a celebrated contemporary arranger, pianist, and composer. His first album, Bons Encontros (shared with Marco Pereira), was awarded with the Prêmio Sharp as the Best Instrumental Album of 1994. As an arranger, Bastos received other Sharp prizes for Paulinho da Viola (1990), Parceria (1995), Disfarça e Chora (1996), and Tantos Caminhos (1997). As a pianist and arranger, he has worked with top acts like Paulinho da Viola, Edu Lobo, Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque, Nana Caymmi, Clara Nunes, Gal Costa, Simone, and Ângela Maria. As a composer, Bastos had partnerships with Chico Buarque, Paulo César Pinheiro, Paulinho da Viola, and Aldir Blanc. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
