TV Series:

Cristina's Court

  • Release Year: 2006
  • Run Time: 30 minutes

Plot

A showcase for celebrated bilingual jurist-author Judge Cristina Lopez, the daily, syndicated Cristina's Court was an English-language version of her popular Telemundo courtroom series La Corte de Familia. Like its predecessor, Cristina's Court focused on legal disputes among family members and spouses, with the fiery, no-nonsense Lopez dispensing stern but sage advice. In many cases, the Judge "went the extra mile" by having the plaintiffs and defendants retire to her chambers where she could help thresh out their problems in private (though how "private" things could become in front of a battery of TV cameras was a matter of debate). Executive-produced by the same person responsible for the similar series Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown, Cristina's Court was syndicated by Twentieth Television beginning the week of September 11, 2006; in many markets, especially those with stations owned by Fox or Sinclair, the series could be seen on two different channels. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
