Cristinas Heimreise, a comedy by H. von Hofmannsthal, published in 1910. The plot, set in Venice, is drawn from the Mémoires of Casanova. The young and handsome adventurer Florindo seduces Cristina, a beautiful country girl on a visit to Venice, and abandons her in the morning, leaving the sea captain Tomaso, a blunt, but kindly and reliable character, to escort her to her rural home.
