Club career
Universidad Católica
Toselli began his professional career at Universidad Católica in 2006, when goalkeeper Rainer Wirth was loaned to Temuco. Toselli made his official debut on November 25, 2007 against Coquimbo Unido. Toselli remained the team's number three goalkeeper until Apertura Tournament 2009. In 2009, José María Buljubasich the team's starter for four seasons and team captain was allowed to leave the club for Paraguayan club Olimpia. Universidad Católica coach Marco Antonio Figueroa held an open competition between Toselli and fellow goalkeeper Paulo Garcés for the starting position. Garcés started the first two games of the season until Toselli took over for the rest of the season. Universidad Católica went on to make the playoffs, however Toselli would not play in the playoffs due to injury that he sustained during international duty.
International career
2007 South American Youth Championship
Toselli was part of the Chile U-20, which finished fourth place at the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay. He watched the first two games from the bench, until the third game when he replaced Colo-Colo player Richard Leyton as the team's number one goalkeeper for the rest of the tournament. During the tournament Toselli allowed eight goals in seven games and Chile qualified for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
FIFA U-20 World Cup
Toselli was also part of the Chilean national squad who finished third at the 2007 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Canada. There Toselli broke Brazilian goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel's record for most minutes without conceding a goal in a FIFA U-20 World Cup; he was not beaten for 492 minutes in total, eight minutes more than Taffarel.[2] He was also on the shortlist for the tournament's best player.
Toulon Tournament
Toselli was still on the bench in his club after his impressive performances at the under twenty evens due to the fact Buljubasich was still first-choice goalkeeper, captain, and fan favorite. Toselli would not see action in an official game until the 2008 Toulon Tournament. Toselli would represent Chile at the sub-23 level this time. Toselli allowed five goals in five games and Chile finished runner up to Italy losing to them 1-0 in the final.
Toselli and Chile would once again make the trip to Toulon to participate in the 2009 Toulon Tournament. Toselli and Chile beat host France 1-0 in the final. Toselli also won the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament award after allowing one goal in five games. However after the tournament medics found he had been playing with torn ligaments in his right knee which caused him to miss six months of play and the playoffs of his domestic league.[3] Toselli's coach Figueroa had protested Toselli's involvement in the tournament. After his injury was revealed Figueroa argued the Chilean staff had allowed Toselli to play through injury which caused the injury to be more severe. [4]
Chile
Adult side coach Marcelo Bielsa has regularly made Toselli the third goalkeeper during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL). Toselli has yet to make his debut with the adult side.
Personal
Toselli has several nickames, which are San Toselli, Hulk, and El Tose. In 2007, Toselli won the Deportista + BKN award in Chile, which is voted on by young people in Chile.
