Criticare Systems helps hospitals keep better tabs on their patients. Instruments and sensors made by the company monitor the vital signs and anesthetic levels of patients undergoing surgery or confined to intensive care. Its products also provide readings for electrocardiograms and monitor oxygen saturation, carbon dioxide levels, blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate. Criticare's VitalView telemetry system allows one nurse to keep tabs on more than a dozen patients from a single location. The company also makes reusable pulse oximetry sensors for use with its equipment. In 2008 the company was acquired by India-based manufacturer Opto Circuits.
