Having fought his own battles with drugs and alcohol, Eric Clapton founded the Crossroads Centre at Antigua, a not-for-profit organization that provides drug and alcohol rehabilitation and other addictive-behavior treatment services at its facility in the West Indies. Clapton started the treatment center in part to treat locals -- about 75% of Crossroads clients come from the US, but 17% come from Antigua and nearby island nations. (The center provides "treatment scholarships" for people who cannot afford to pay.) Two foundations, in the UK and the US, also help support Crossroads financially.
