CUE Bus
CUE Bus (City-University-Energysaver[1]) is a bus service operated by the city of Fairfax, Virginia, and is completely separate from the Fairfax Connector bus service run by Fairfax County.
CUE operates two loop routes between George Mason University and the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro station, each running in both directions for a total of four named routes. The Green loop, consisting of routes Green 1 (clockwise) and Green 2 (counterclockwise) operates on the east side of Fairfax City, while the Gold loop, consisting of routes Gold 1 (clockwise) and Gold 2 (counter) operates on the west side.
In addition to providing service to GMU and Vienna Metro, the CUE serves all major activity centers in the City of Fairfax, including downtown, Kamp Washington, Northfax, Fairfax Circle and Fair City Mall.
Fares
The City of Fairfax announced a fare increase of $0.25 for FY 2006-2007.
- $0.75 - Regular fare
- $0.50 - Senior citizens, other students, persons with disabilities
- Free - George Mason students with ID card
- Free - All riders on red Ozone Action Days
The Metrobus Regional One-Day Bus Pass ($3) is valid on CUE and all other local bus operators in Washington, D.C. and its suburbs. CUE buses accept WMATA SmarTrip cards.
Fleet
The CUE bus system owns and operates a total of eight 30-foot Gillig Phantom buses in its fleet. The average age of each bus is 6.3 years.
For its next fleet upgrade, CUE plans to purchase 35-foot buses with low floors and hybrid motors, also produced by Gillig.[citation needed]
