Biography
During his thirty three years as a cinematographer, Curt Courant has worked with some of film's most distinguished directors including Fritz Lang, Alfred Hitchcock, Max Ophuls, and Charles Chaplin, and he was regarded as one of Europe's premiere directors of photography during the late silent era through the early sound years. He was born in Germany and got his start working in German and Italian movies as an assistant cameraman. When the Nazis rose to power in the early '30s, he fled Germany to work in England, France and America.
