Cvetkovci is a village in northeastern region of Slovenia (Lower Styria), in the part, which is also known as Prlekija. First mention of the village in archives goes back to the year 1320. At that point of time it was called Maierhof (Pristava).
Ruins of an important Roman merchant road Poetovio – Savaria were found on the southern part of the village. Cvetkovci village lies on both sides of regional road Ptuj – Ormož and borders on villages Osluševci, Podgorci and Trgovišče. Southern border of the village is also the Slovenian national border with Croatia. There are a pond and two rivers, flowing through the village. These are called Pesnica and Drava.
The Cvetkovci village itself has five regions, called Lower and Upper Cvetkovci, Trnje, Dobrava and Otok (Island). Cvetkovci is known for nice and very guest-friendly people, in the village are also two restaurants with excellent food and wine.
Main economy in the village is agriculture, especially on the fields northern of the village, but there are also some fields on the southern side. Main agriculture branch is stockbreeding, but also poultry farming is important. Lately become all more important also production of vegetables and horse breeding. Although agriculture is very important, many inhabitants also work in towns like Maribor, Ptuj and Ormož.
