Cyril of Scythopolis (525-558 A.D.)- Christian monk, priest and Greek[1] historian of monastic life in Scythopolis (Palestine) in the early years of Christianity (6th century A.D.). Described seven lives of Palestinian saint monks after his arrival to the monastery of New Laura in 555[2]. Cyril of Scythopolis spent about 10 years the Monastery of Euthymius, otherwise known as Khan el-Ahmar[3]. His works (one of which called The Lives of the Monks of Palestine) remains one of the famous sources of that time monastic life[4].
According to John Moschus, the well-known story of Saint Mary of Egypt is told in Cyril of Scythopolis's life of Saint Cyriacus[5].
