Cystathionine gamma-lyase (or cystathionase) is an enzyme which breaks down cystathionine into cysteine and α-ketobutyrate. Pyridoxal phosphate is a prosthetic group of this enzyme.

Pathology

Cysteine metabolism. Cystathionase catalyzes the lower reaction.

An deficiency is associated with cystathioninuria.
