D*Face
D*Face is an English multimedia street artist who utilizes spray paint, stickers, posters, and stencils.
Life and work
"D*Face" is a brand created by graphic designer Richard Hennings. Growing up in middle England he had a childhood interest in street art. He credits this to Henry Chalfant's coverage of New York subway graffiti in Spraycan Art and Subway Art, and Thrasher magazine's coverage of skateboard deck graphics. After attending an illustration and design course, D*Face was developed by co-opting the styles and ideas of other street artists, graphic designers, and illustrators. Later influences included Shepard Fairey's massive "Obey Giant" art campaign, hip hop music, and popular animated cartoons. [1]
He held his first major London solo exhibition, Death & Glory, at the Stolenspace gallery(his own gallery) in October 2006[2] Since then, his exhibitions have included a solo show, Eyecons, at O Contemporary in Brighton in March 2007. This featured new paintings, an installation and two prints — of Kurt "Kant Complain" and Cli-Che.[3] D*Face acted as curator for the Outside Institute, a contemporary art gallery in London that focused on street art. In 2005 the Outside Institute moved and re branded to become the Stolen Space Gallery.[4][1]
