Dailly

Wikipedia: Dailly

Dailly is a village in South Ayrshire, Scotland. It is located on the Water of Girvan, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Maybole, and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of Old Dailly. "New Dailly", as it was originally known, was laid out in the 1760s as a coal-mining village. In 1849 a fire broke out in Dalquharran Colliery, one of the nearby mines, and continued to burn for 50 years.

On April 1st of 2009, South Ayrshire Council closed Dailly Activity Center to compensate for its losses. The council proposed a handover scheme, where residents of the village would be able to run the Activity Center out with the Council. The sports centre has not yet been re-opened to the general public. The famous Ronald Tumble also lives here, he helps raise money for charities and helps with scouts.

Within walking distance of Dailly, is the Brunston Castle Golf Course and the Seasons Brunston Castle Holiday Resort.
