US Government Guide:

Daily Digest

At the back of each daily issue of the Congressional Record is the Daily Digest. Since 1947 the Digest has served as a handy index to the Record, listing the bills and resolutions introduced and what measures were passed or rejected in each chamber and giving the page numbers where the reports can be found. The Daily Digest also lists all nominations received, confirmed, or rejected, together with page references to messages from the President, amendments, cosponsors, and related information. In addition to floor activities, the Daily Digest catalogs the previous day's committee meetings, including a brief description of topics of hearings, witnesses, and votes. The Digest concludes with announcements of the hearings that will be held the next day, listing the subject, time, and location of these meetings.
