Dalzell is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 717 at the 2000 census.
Geography
Dalzell is located at 41°21′22″N, 89°10′25″W (41.356206,
-89.173685)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total
area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it
is land and 0.78% is water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 717 people, 278 households, and 209 families residing in the
village. The population density was 218.0/km² (564.5/mi²). There were 289 housing
units at an average density of 87.9/km² (227.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.44% White, 0.14% African American, and 0.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.26% of the population.
There were 278 households out of which 32.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.1% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were
non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or
older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 25.8%
from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 94.3
males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $49,808, and the median income for a family was $56,375. Males had a
median income of $39,531 versus $22,050 for females. The per capita income for the
village was $20,215. About 1.0% of families and 3.5% of the population were below the poverty
line, including 3.5% of those under age 18 and 0.9% of those age 65 or over.

The village was named after coal-mining magnate Sam Dalzell. The village was originally home
