Review

On their Damage EP, the Austin, TX, group Western Keys come off like an indie rock band with a bright future. They may wear their influences a little too prominently on their sleeves at this point (there's Ben Dickey's sometimes unerringly Stephen Malkmus-like vocal delivery for starters), but wonderfully melodic tracks such as the Americana-tinged, steel guitar-soaked "Gettin' Sick" indicate a musical complexity breathing beneath the obvious touchstones. Elsewhere, such as on "Become You," the group leans even deeper into alt-country territory. This seven-song EP is a concise, well-fleshed-out statement that Western Keys are a band to watch. ~ Erik Hage, All Music Guide
