Biography

Born and raised in Toronto, drummer Daniel Adair picked up his first set of drumsticks at the impressionable age of 13 after being motivated to put together an old kit his drummer father had stored away. He didn't do much drumming during his late teens -- that is, until he took a job working at a Vancouver music store. He began practicing again in earnest (further learning to sing while he drummed), networking with musicians who would frequent the store, and even started additionally playing the bass guitar. Adair soon established a name for himself in the area, performing in various local cover bands and doing plenty of studio work on the side. In 2002, he joined up with multi-platinum rockers 3 Doors Down, staying with them for two years and recording two albums in the process (2003's Another 700 Miles and 2005's Seventeen Days). Adair left the band to become a member of another popular rock act, Vancouver-based Nickelback, in early 2005, replacing the band's former drummer, Ryan Vikedal. In addition to his work with 3 Doors Down and Nickelback, Adair has appeared on albums by acts like Theory of a Deadman, Martone, and Bo Bice. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide
