Daniel Andrew 'Danny' Carlton (born 22 December 1983 in Leeds, West Yorkshire) is an English footballer, playing for Bury.

Football career

On 2 March 2002, Carlton signed a professional contract with Morecambe after coming up through their youth academy. He made his Shrimps debut that same day, playing a part in a 2–0 win over Scarborough. He scored his first goal for the club one month later, on 3 April 2002, when Morecambe lost to Telford United 4–1.

Carlton's most important goal came in the 2007 Conference National Playoff Final, in which Morecambe beat Exeter City 2-1. Carlton scored eight minutes from time to send Morecambe into the The Football League for the first time in their history.[1]

Carlton, who made 199 appearances (74 as sub) for Morecambe, scoring 62 goals in all competitions, was signed by Carlisle United from Morecambe on 8 June 2007.[2] He made his Cumbrians and Football League debut on 11 August 2007 playing a part in a 1–1 draw over Walsall. In the first game of the 2008–2009 League One Season against Bristol Rovers, Danny scored his first 2 league goals for Carlisle. Carlton is often praised for his 100% work rate during the match and many people seem to admire him for this despite his poor goal scoring ratio for Carlisle.

Later on, in 2008, Danny signed for Morecambe on loan. As he had been at the club before, he found it fairly easy to settle down, and was immediately put in the starting line-up. Despite not scoring goals week-in week-out, he still set up a few goals for his teammates and contributed well to the teams performances.

On 14 January 2009, Danny signed this time on loan for Darlington until the end of the season.[3]
