Biography

Growing up on the edge of Washington, D.C., Daniel Dyer enjoyed the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who, but wasn't devoted to music. That changed at age 14 when an uncle gave him an electric guitar. In high school Dyer joined cover and punk bands, and his taste switched to the Cult's songwriting and Steve Vai's guitar playing. He attended college in Daytona Beach, FL, and discovered Nine Inch Nails and Skinny Puppy, influencing Dyer to work with synthesizers and drum machines. He collected the demos he had been working on and released his first album, RavensBlind, in 2000. Two years later Dyer pulled back a bit on the gothic sound and released the more sprawling and ambitious Midnight My Angel. In 2004 he hit the road with the Rock the Vote Bus Tour. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
