Daniel Giorgetti
Daniel Giorgetti was born in London and studied piano and composition at the London College of Music with Martin Ellerby, and the Royal College of Music with Edwin Roxburgh.
He has been awarded several prizes, among others the Worshipful Company of Musicians' Silver Medal, a Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust award and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Young Composers' Award in 2000.
His music has been performed in festivals and concert series – including the Park Lane Group Series, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Gaudeamus Foundation New Music Week in Amsterdam. Works have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3,
2005 saw the publication of Icicles for solo piano (Associated Board Specturm series) and the commercial release of a recording of Dialogue for violin and piano. In September 2006 an EP of new works collectively entitled Expositions was released on the Cirrostratus label.
His work for film and television includes several drama shorts and, more recently, The Somme, a feature-length drama documentary from Darlow Smithson Productions (Touching the Void) for Channel 4. His latest score is for the drama documentary Rothko in the BBC series Simon Schama's Power of Art'' broadcast on BBC Two in autumn 2006.
