Music Encyclopedia: Daniel (Jenkyn) Jones

(b Pembroke, 7 Dec 1912). Welsh composer. He studied at the RAM (1935-8) and has written ten symphonies in an essentially tonal but vigorously chromatic style. Other works include operas, music for Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood (1954; poet and composer were friends from boyhood), choral and chamber music.
