Aug 6, 1775. Irish Catholic political leader Daniel O’Connell, known as “the Liberator” for his role in achieving the right of Catholics to sit in parliament, was born near Cahirciveen, County Kerry. He died at age 81, May 15, 1847, at Genoa, Italy.
