Biography

Sharp, snide, and just about as wicked as they come, standup comedian Daniel Tosh's sardonic material and the casual way it's delivered has made him a college favorite and a frequent guest of the Comedy Central television network. Born in Germany but raised in Florida, Tosh is the son of a preacher, a fact that shocks nearly everyone who has encountered his edgy and flippant act. In Miami, Tosh created and hosted the late-night television show Tens, where he would interview and mock the numerous models who inhabit the city's South Beach area. After touring the comedy club circuit, a successful performance at the prestigious Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal introduced him to the big time. He was soon appearing at comedy festivals as far away as New Zealand and Kilkenny, Ireland, and averaging 100 college campus performances a year. He made his first appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2001 and a year later was hosting his first standup special, Comedy Central Presents Daniel Tosh. In 2005 the cable network's record label released his debut, the CD/DVD combo True Stories I Made Up. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

Early life

Daniel Tosh was born in Germany but grew up in Titusville, Florida, the son of a preacher with one brother and two sisters.[3] After graduating from Astronaut High School in 1993 and later the University of Central Florida with a degree in marketing,[4] Tosh moved to Los Angeles. He attributes his decision to work in comedy to having been raised in Florida, which he considers "flat, hot and dumb."

Career

Tosh's first big career break came in 2001 with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. His first attempt to appear on the show was cut short due to a guest star, Eric Kraff, overextending his segment. Tosh followed with appearances on programs such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Comedy Central's Premium Blend.[5] In 2003 he performed in his own 30-minute special on Comedy Central Presents. On June 17, 2007, Comedy Central aired his stand-up special: Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious. He also hosted an episode of Comedy Central's Live at Gotham. Tosh is also a regular guest on The Bob & Tom Show. He had small parts in the feature films In the Army Now starring Pauly Shore and Andy Dick and The Love Guru.

Currently Tosh hosts Tosh.0 on Comedy Central, which showcases Internet video clips.[6]

Tosh has released two albums, True Stories I Made Up, which was released on November 8, 2005 by Comedy Central and Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious, which was released on June 17, 2007 by Comedy Central. His Comedy Central TV show Tosh.0 premiered on June 4, 2009.
