Biography

Langston, a singer in mid-1960s London band Cyrano and the Bergeracs, became the Who's first full-time road manager. As far as musical credentials go, his claim to fame is co-writing "Early Morning Cold Taxi," an outtake from The Who Sell Out, with Roger Daltrey. "Early Morning Cold Taxi" was a decent song, enough in tune with the Who's power pop sound that it could easily pass for an unreleased Pete Townshend composition. However, it didn't make the cut for The Who Sell Out. Although it was widely bootlegged in the following decades, it didn't gain official release until the mid-1990s, when it was included on the Who's Thirty Years of Maximum R&B box; it was also included on the expanded CD version of The Who Sell Out. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
