David Pear (born June 1, 1953 in Vancouver, Washington) is a retired American football defensive tackle. He was the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers player to be selected to the Pro Bowl and played in Super Bowl XV for the winning Oakland Raiders.
Pear started a blog with a friend, Robert Lee, in February 2008 [1] that has become one of the most popular and vocal sites on issues relating to retired players' disability and pension issues.
He has been quoted saying, "The NFL destroys families." "I wish I had never played." [2]
He has also been quoted saying, "Don't let your kids play football. Never." [3]
