Artist Dave White was born in Liverpool, England in 1971. He went to art school at the age of 16 where he discovered oil painting. His first solo exhibition at the age of 18 entitled 'Animals and Other Thingies' at the Bridewell Gallery in Liverpool was a sell out success and reviewed by Adrian Henri with whom Dave later became friends. Dave was part of the unofficial Liverpool school of painters including the likes of Dick Young and others whom now have sadly departed.
Joining Liverpool John Moores University in 1991 to study BA (Hons) Fine Art (painting), Dave was lucky enough to paint in John Lennon's old art studio. Graduating in 1994, Dave went on to exhibition with the Northern Graduates exhibition at the Royal College of Art in London. Quickly spotted by Anthony Brown of Connaught Brown with whom he went on to enjoy a five year artist/gallery relationship with his series of animal portraits, exhibiting at art fairs and galleries all over the world. The highlight of this period was the Blue Cross Centenary Exhibition at Sotheby's where he exhibited alongside Picasso, David Hockney, Hirst and many more. An extensive collection of work from this period is in private collections around the world.
In 1997 Dave became a member of break beat band Surreal Madrid, as scratch DJ. For the next 3 years he would tour extensively around Europe and appear at festivals such as T in the Park, Reading and Leeds and Benicassim in Spain. Other highlights included performing live from Maida Vale on BBC's Radio One and their biggest gig saw them appear with Fatboy Slim and the Basement Jaxx at Benicassim Festival before thousands.
Returning to the studio in 2002, Dave decided to paint his sneaker collection. He launched his website in 2003 which brought his work to the attention of the sneaker market. Collaborations with Nike soon followed and he toured the world with his paintings and began to perform live at events such as Sneaker Pimps - the world's largest touring sneaker exhibition. In 2005 he appeared alongside Futura 2000 Stash and other artists at the first Nike sponsored sneaker event in Beijing and Shanghai, where thousands appeared to see the artists paint live at the event.
More recently Dave White has collaborated with Coca Cola painting their new Cherry Coke can which was designed by Jay Z. An A-list event in New York unveiled the painting at the prestigious Chelsea Venue Dia - renouned for exhibiting artists such as Andy Warhol.
Other subject matters that have attracted his attention are Super Cars, Star Wars and more recently Super Hero paintings. These larger works range
