Comyn, David (Daithí Coimín) (1854-1907), language activist. Born in Co. Clare, he helped found the Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language in 1876, leaving it to form the Gaelic Union. In 1882 he founded The Gaelic Journal ( Irisleabhar na Gaedhilge).
