1718Ovid's Elegies and Anacreon's Odes. The Delaware lawyer and governmental official's translations, among the earliest undertaken in the Middle Colonies, are preserved by John Parke (1754-1789) in his volume entitled The Lyric Works of Horace (1786). They represent some of the best colonial verse translation.
