Biography

Canadian multi-instrumentalist David Quinton began his public musical career as a drummer in the Who and Jam tribute band the Mods in Toronto in 1977, then left to become Stiv Bators' drummer for a 1979 tour, before returning to Toronto with a solo deal in hand from Bomb Records. The resulting album, released in 1981 and simply called David Quinton, was produced by Stan Meissner and represented a return to Quinton's power pop roots. Quinton's next move was to join the Jitters as a drummer, but he eventually left the group to attend law school. He continued to work at music, though, and signed a development deal with Capitol Records and began demo work for a second solo project when Capitol sent him out on the road as a drummer with another of the label's acts, Strange Advance, for most of 1986 and 1987. Quinton has since built a successful practice specializing in entertainment law under his real name, David Steinberg. In 2006 Bullseye Records released Bombs and Lullabies, which includes tracks from his first solo project with Meissner, as well as an assortment of live tracks and studio outtakes to make a nice overview of Quinton's solo career in the 1980s. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
