Keith Davis (born December 30, 1978 in Italy, Texas) is an American football free safety for the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. He was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Sam Houston State University. He was also a member of the 2004 World Bowl Champion Berlin Thunder of NFL Europa. Davis, who normally plays at the free safety position, has often played a starting role since joining the Cowboys, but is largely seen as merely an adequate free safety; instead, he was frequently touted by former coach Bill Parcells and others for his excellent special teams play, having led the them twice in special teams tackles.
On July 16, 2006, Davis was shot in the head and in the thigh in a drive-by shooting while driving, and was reported to be in stable condition [1] According to the Associated Press, this was the second time Davis had been shot, the first being an incident in which he had been an innocent bystander.
