Dawan Frank Landry (born December 30, 1982 in Ama, Louisiana) is an American football safety for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. Landry was a successful college safety for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 2002 to 2005, and was drafted in the 5th round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Ravens.

College

While at Georgia Tech, he majored in Management. Dawan was a high school quarterback; he originally was redshirted to play quarterback in college but changed positions. Dawan, in four years, had 250 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7 interceptions, and four fumble recoveries. The most notable performance of Dawan's career was against Auburn in 2005 when he accumulated 10 tackles and an interception to help defeat the Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium 24-13.

Professional career

Baltimore Ravens

Landry was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round (146th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft. Dawan's rookie season for the Ravens saw him earn a starting spot in the defensive secondary alongside fellow safety Ed Reed. Dawan had what was considered a very successful rookie season, collecting 69 tackles, 3 sacks, and 5 interceptions for 101 yards and one touchdown.[1] Landry's season earned him one vote for AP defensive rookie of the year, making him only one of seven players to earn a vote.[2] In January, 2007, Landry was voted to the Pro Football Weekly PFWA All-Rookie Team as a starting defensive safety[citation needed] as well as Rick Gosselin's All-Rookie team as featured in The Dallas Morning News.[3] In his second season with the Ravens he finished the campaign with 83 tackles and one sack. Dawan got off to an exceptional start to the 09-10 season, getting 16 tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 pass defensed in the first 3 games.

Landry is the older brother of former LSU All-American safety and current Washington Redskins starting safety LaRon Landry, who was the highest-drafted safety in the 2007 NFL Draft.
