History

The term "day spa" was coined back in the 1980s by Catherine Atzen, upon her entry from France to the U.S.[citation needed] There is some challenge, from Burke Williams of San Francisco, who also claims to have coined the term.[citation needed] The first airport spa was created on November 17, 2000 at Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal C located in Newark, New Jersey, USA.[1] Some spas also offer a mobile day spa service where the treatments are done in the home or accommodation.
