Combining two LPs, this CD reissue of this obscure Japanese experimental rock group is a fantastic insight into the Japanese underground. Brast Burn share similarities in approach to German post-rock pioneers Faust and Can, and deploy a range of acoustic and electric instruments into a mantra rock that would be worthy of consideration under the Krautrock banner were it not recorded in '70s Japan. No information is provided about the band or members, however, the reissue on Paradigm calls for anyone with knowledge of this obscurity to contact the label pronto. Free form rock, backwards tape collage, and percussion make for a hysterical and outward bound exploration a few decades ahead of its time. ~ Skip Jansen, All Music Guide
