Biography

London, England's Decimator centered around gruff vocalist Mad Dog (aka Barry Coward), who started the band circa 1981 and landed a one-off single deal with then prominent Neat Records for the release of their sadly forgotten nugget "Carnage City Rox." Boasting a hybrid sound caught somewhere between metal and punk (equal parts Atomkraft and the Anti-Nowhere League), the single turned a few heads with its not-too-serious vibe, but it wasn't until the end of the decade that Decimator had another shot at a popular breakthrough. By then, Mad Dog had reinvented the group in a thrash metal mold, and, alongside guitarists Lice Marshall and E Raunch Launcher, spectacularly named bassist Metaldwarf, and drummer Shawn Beaver, proceeded to release two humorously cynical LPs in 1989's Carnage City State Mosh Patrol and 1993's Dirty, Hot and Hungry before vanishing from sight once again. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
