  1. The act or process of decreasing or becoming gradually less.
  2. The amount lost by gradual diminution or waste.
  3. Mathematics. The amount by which a variable is decreased; a negative increment.

To subtract a number from another number. Decrementing a counter means to subtract 1 or some other number from its current value.

The recovery after a fever; the excessive stored heat is dissipated by vasodilatation and sweating, and heat production is reduced by relaxation of muscles. Called also defervescence.
