The act of putting off or the condition of being put off: adjournment, deferral, delay, postponement, stay, suspension, waiver. See time.

Postponing or putting off to a future time. May apply to the vesting or enjoyment of an estate, or to the calling of a person to serve in the armed forces. 50 U.S.C., App. §456. To defer does not mean to abolish, 17 S.E. 2d 22, 24, or omit, 90 F. 2d 549. 551.
