What are the advantages and disadvantages of processed food?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Fresh foods do not contain additives and preservatives, and ALL processed foods do. Fresh foods CAN contain pesticides, unless you purchase organic, but they can easily be washed off. Consuming fresh foods that have NOT been washed can cause microorganisms to enter your body, causing illness. Processed foods that have been improperly stored or handled can also contain microorganisms, but is much less likely. Fresh foods have all of their natural vitamins and minerals, while processed foods have lost some of the natural nutritional value. Processed foods are typically HIGH in sodium, and can have an adverse effect on your overall health, the longer you consume them. Processed foods DO last longer, but that is because of all of the additives/preservatives. The secret is to weigh out the pros and cons, including cost, availability, vitamins, minerals, etc...and decide which is the better option for you. While, overall, Organic Fruits and Vegetables are the best choice (health/safety wise)...they may not be practical for every single person, as cost is typically the main factor in deciding, when in reality, the health benefits should outweigh this.

Do you have to be in the army to join delta force?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. While foreign nationals are permitted to serve in the US Armed Forces, there are limitations as to what they can and cannot do. In the 'cannot do' list is any position which requires a security clearance, which effectively rules out any special operations unit. Also note that individuals are not selected for these units - they volunteer.

To the answer above - YOU ARE WRONG -. Foreign Nationals can and do have security clearances. My boss was not a US Citizen and he had a clearance. The highest clearance, in fact, is with DOE. As for a british soldier joining delta force - No, because he is still a member of the british armed forces. If he came here legally, he may indeed be able to join depending on his contributions.

What year did the delta force start?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The US Government and DoD neither confirm nor deny the existence of "Delta Force." However...

The unit is attached to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. It has been known as 1st SFOD-D (First Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta), however that nomenclature has recently changed to the Army Compartmented Element as part of the US Army Office of Sensitive Activities (AOSA)--this is from the Ft. Bragg Post directory.

Due to the secretive and secure nature of the unit, no official "start" date is known. The closest approximation is a reference to "Spec Ops" at Ft. Bragg in late 1977.

What kind of special interest group is in the US chamber of commerce?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce historically has represented the interests of business, especially large chains and corporations. At the local level, it represents the interests of smaller, local companies, and provides local businesspeople with opportunities to meet each other and network. Some critics will also note that unlike the local Chambers, which tend to stay out of national politics, the U.S. Chamber has aligned itself with the Republican Party and has placed a number of advertisements against Democrats and against President Obama.

Why did reagan support rebellions in afghanistan Nicaragua el salvador and grenada?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Proxy wars were a big part of the Cold War. The United States and Soviet Union hosted a number of them throughout the world in order to vie for influence in these regions, and prevent the other side from gaining influence.

In the case of El Salvador, Reagan did not support a rebellion but a democratic government elected in 1984.

What is delta force protection?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Force Protection Delta, or FPCON Delta, is a threat level indicator where a terrorist attack has just occurred, is currently taking place, or is highly imminent based on recent intelligence. The FPCON levels are similar to the Defense Readiness Condition, or DECFON, levels. The main difference between these two systems are that the DEFCON system deals with military readiness against threats to the public while the FPCON system is specific to threats against the military.
