Review

Alka's third full-length (but first for the wider world of distributed records) matches sleek, moody techno with atmospheric samples and effects evoking late nights on deserted streets or in disused manufacturing facilities. His sense for production serves him well here; no slave to the rhythm, Alka spends long beatless passages exploring the world of invisible soundtracks, using field recordings and a range of sound dynamics to call up nearly any mood that fits the track. Of the beat-driven material, "Salt Lake" sounds similar to the obtuse, angular production style of Force Inc partner Akufen, while the dark-ambient piece "Cargo Area C" conjures up the atmosphere of a haunted warehouse. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
