Biography

British film editor Derek York was deeply involved in the "Free Cinema" movement that swept through Britain in the 1950s. Unlike his peers from the era, Lindsay Anderson, Karel Reisz, and Tony Richardson, York never aspired to the director's chair, at least not for features. He did helm one short film, Saturday Night. As an editor, York's credits include Seance on a Wet Afternoon (1964), A High Wind in Jamaica (1965), and Weekend of a Champion (1972). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
