Dermot

Dermot (Diarmaid) (6th century), Irish abbot. Said to have been of royal blood and a native of Connacht, Dermot was the founder of the monastery on the island of Inchcleraun (Innis Clothran) in Lough Ree, and was associated with Senan. Ruins of six churches survive on his island, which was both his burial place and a centre of pilgrimage. Feast: 10 January.
