Biography

Raised in the Bronx, Desmond Harrington went to a Catholic prep school and worked as a bartender and construction worker before beginning his acting career. His film debut was in Luc Besson's The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, which led to a visit to the Sundance Film Festival and a few small roles in independent features such as Drop Back Ten and Massholes. In 2001, Harrington appeared in two big projects, Christine Lahti's directorial debut, My First Mister, and Riding in Cars With Boys with Drew Barrymore. He continued to work in dramas (We Were Soldiers), but then made the thriller Ghost Ship. He played a starring role in a short film called Life Makes Sense if You're Famous, and made his television debut in the miniseries Taken. Desmond Harrington (born October 19, 1976) is an American actor, who gained fame through movies like The Hole, Wrong Turn and Ghost Ship. He joined the cast of the Showtime series Dexter in its third season, which started September 2008.

Biography

Early life

Harrington was born in Savannah, Georgia[1] and moved with his family to The Bronx at the age of 3, where his mother's side of the family originates. He attended a Catholic school and eventually graduated from Fordham Preparatory School, a Jesuit high school. After high school, he attended Manhattan College, but left after only 6 weeks.[citation needed] Afterward, he worked in various other occupations before pursuing acting which included working at a brokerage firm, a deli, in construction, landscaping and as a bartender,[citation needed] mostly to pay for acting classes with John Strasberg. He currently lives in Los Angeles.[citation needed]

His first role was playing Aulon in Luc Besson's The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. He soon after grabbed prominent roles in films such as The Hole, Ghost Ship and Wrong Turn. Harrington also appeard in the Steven Spielberg sci-fi drama Taken, in which he played Jesse Keys, an abductee of aliens.

In September 2008 he joined the Showtime TV show Dexter, and in December 2008 he played a guest role on Gossip Girl playing Jack Bass, a role he will revive on a guest appearances in Season 3 of the show. [2]
