Biography
Dick Siegel earned a reputation as one of Michigan's best singer/songwriters during the '70s and '80s. Siegel never had much of an opportunity to record until the '90s, when he released Angels Aweigh and Snap! Both albums received positive reviews and the songwriter won the Best New Folk Artist award at the 1991 Kerrville Folk Festival. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
Siegel can be seen and heard frequently in the Ann Arbor area. He performs solo acoustic, with an acoustic trio called the Dick Siegel Trio and in an electric band called Dick Siegel and the Brandos.
His best known songs include "Angelo's", "Fighting for King George", "What Would Brando Do?" and "When The Sumac Is On Fire". "Angelo's" is played after every weekend morning "Over Easy" programming block on the Detroitclassic rock radio station WCSX. It refers specifically to Angelo's Restaurant, a diner in close proximity to the University of MichiganMedical School in Ann Arbor.
