‘Frühlingsfeier, Die’, one of the best-known odes of F. G. Klopstock, written in 1759. It has 27 irregular, unrhymed strophes. Its sense of the presence and protection of God in face of the immensity of the universe is conveyed in a famous description of a thunderstorm, to which there is an allusion in Goethe's Die Leiden des jungen Werthers under the date 16 June 1772.
