Game Description
Loosely based upon the Die Hard movies, Die Hard Arcade is an action game featuring two playable characters. The player's mission is to rescue the daughter of the President of the United States from terrorists who have taken over a high rise office building. The male and female characters can use an array of punch and kick attacks, as well as many weapons that can be picked up or taken from enemies. To complete each level, players must defeat a boss character that possesses far more strength and energy than common bad guys.Between levels, players are tested with "running interludes." The characters run through a hallway or a garage (or various other places) without the player's control. The computer then instructs the player to punch, kick, or jump at a certain time. If the player fails to hit the correct button quickly enough, he/she will either have to fight an extra bad guy or get hit by a truck or other foreign object. To solve the game, players must defeat all terrorists and face the leader. Once the leader is beaten, the President's daughter is rescued.

Roots & Influences
Die Hard Arcade is a direct descendant of other punch and kick style games from the mid-1980s such as Bad Dudes and Double Dragon. Although it shares the name with Die Hard the movie, there is actually little similarity.~ Anthony Baize, All Game Guide
Review: Overall
Games that are based on movies are usually hit or miss. Either you get a great game, oryou get one that misses the mark. Games like Donkey Kong -- if you accept that it was
based on King Kong-- were terrific and became classics. On the other end of the
spectrum, you have games based on Batman, Alien, and others which are not
classics at all. In fact, Batman and Robin and Alien vs. Predator are two fairly bad
games. That being said, we can turn our attention to Die Hard Arcade.
Die Hard Arcade is a great action game. It combines elements of both punch-and-kick
style games and straight shooting games. If Die Hard Arcade can be compared to
anything, it would probably be viewed as a souped-up Final Fight. The action keeps
you interested and the fighting is tough, but not so tough that it gets frustrating.
Don't plan on finishing Die Hard Arcade with one set of credits. Some stages are very
challenging and once your character dies, he/she is gone. There are no extra lives in this
game.
The vast array of weapons available for use by characters in this game are great. Players
can pick up guns, mace, trash cans, brooms, axes, and missile launchers. There's almost
always an opportunity to hurt the enemy with something other than your hands or feet.
Enemies aren't the only thing players must watch out for. Streams of water, fire trucks,
giant fans, and other background items can also knock you down. Watch out.
Overall, Die Hard Arcade is a great game. Even though similarities between the game
and the Die Hard movie trilogy are few and far between, I'd say this video game tie-in
is well worth playing.
