German Literature Companion:

Die papierne Passion

papierne Passion, Die, a sketch written by A. Holz and J. Schlaf and published in Neue Gleise (1892). It portrays a half-hour at Christmas time in a Berlin tenement, using a semi-dramatic technique of dialogue set in normal type and simple stage-direction-like narration in small type. The title derives from the skill of old Kopelke, one of the characters, in cutting the symbols of the Passion out of a sheet of paper.
