The Diez Group is a fan of heavy metal. One of the largest minority-owned firms involved in the steel industry, the group owns Supreme Gear, which makes machined parts such as gears, sprockets, and pumps for the aerospace, automotive, and marine industries, and Supreme Drive, which makes USB flash memory storage devices. The Diez Group also owns Promotional Biz, which designs advertising and promotional products. A nosedive in the auto industry forced The Diez Group to close its Lapeer Metal Stamping business in 2008. Four factories that supplied parts to the automotive industry were shuttered. The Diez Group was founded in 1973 by Gerald Diez.
